Brown Butter Date Croissants

These easy brown butter date croissants are the perfect dessert and are an easy way to make the viral circular croissants. Try this out and your friends will be absolutely astounded!

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 1 serving of brown butter frosting (recipe can be found here)
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • Egg wash

Steps for making your croissants:

  1. Lay your puff pastry out in sheets and lay the 2 sheets that come in a puff pastry container out on top of one another to ensure similar size strips of pastry dough.
  2. Cut same size strips of dough and start rolling each strip into a circle and continue the rolling with 2 of the strips of dough.
  3. Apply egg wash across the top of the dough and use it to bind the croissants together. Place these in either a muffin tin, circular molds, or some type of mold that will contain the croissant and allow for an even bake.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes depending on your oven at 350 degrees until your croissants look lightly brown on top.
  5. Let the croissants cool down and apply a damp paper towel on top of them as they cool to allow for the croissants to not dry out as they dry.
  6. Let the croissants cool completely then cut a hole through the top or bottom of the pastry and fill with the frosting. Cover the hold with more frosting and add chopped dates on top to make the croissants look nice.
  7. Enjoy!
